Futurama is created by Matt Groening, who also has the credit for creation of the marvelously applauded series The Simpsons! How much creative and capable person he is, can be judged from the popularity and looks of the shows. Both shows differ from each other in each and every aspect! Chiefly amongst them being the larger fan club of The Simpsons as compared to the other one!

The Futurama series is based on the facts of time-machines that work on the principle of some scientific dimensional facts.  It targets the viewers belonging to the techno-savvy groups along with the group of the viewers who love to see the normal rib-tickling sessions! Some of the websites have proved various scientific theories of Futurama wrong on the basis of technical explanations! But still Bill West who voice over for time traveling pizza boy Philip J. Fry, along with other characters and John DiMaggio, the voice of crusty robot sidekick, Bender have not signed the contract.
No official word about the terms of the individual deals is available, but if earlier reports are to be believed the previous negotiation had reached a dead end when the actors had requested $75,000 per episode which was not acceptable to the producers. They had their own reasons one being that for a series produced for basic cable network, this sort of money is incongruous.
For those who have not been following this blog regularly, Comedy Central ordered 26 episodes of half hour duration each of this animated series by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen in June. This unusual animation aired from 1999- 2003 on Fox before shifting on Comedy Central in 2008.
The MTV Networks Group cable channel has fixed mid-2010 for the series to return. Unless Bill West and John DiMaggio agree to hcome back. But don’t you worry guys, download episodes of Futurama of the previous seasons and let thomecoming, I don’t see how the series would make a e fun flow uninterrupted.

I know that even though this is something that we have been asking for every day, for the past many years, but now that our greatest wish has finally been granted, it seems so unbelievable. Frankly, when I first came across the news, I just ignored it as a rumor. But then, being a fan of Futurama made me look for the facts. And I just cannot explain the height of my ecstasy when I learned that the news was no rumor, and that Comedy Central has actually ordered 26 new episodes of the show.

Reportedly, thirteen episodes of Futurama will be produced by the network initially, for which production offices have already started working and the casting process has also started. It has also been reported that attempts are being made to finalize the deals with the original voice actors, which include Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, Maurice LaMarche, among others. The new episodes of series are supposed to premiere on Comedy Central sometime in the mid of 2010.

The series had originally been on air for five seasons before it was cancelled in 2003. In 2007, four straight-to-dvd movies of Futurama TV Show were announced, which revived the hopes of its fans that the series might be bought back. And, now that the show has been actually revived it has restored the confidence of the fans in their most adorable TV show.

In the backgrounds of almost all episodes, if you notice three alphabets are seen in an alternative pattern. Some times it is seen as a warning sign post or graffiti or at times advertisements. Some people find it intriguing to decode as well but most of these messages can be easily translated into English.

But not many might know about fact that the first alphabet is Alienese, meaning that it is made up in abstract way and has been inspired from some alphabet of Latin origin. It is difficult to understand the second alphabet as it is worked out in a complex way, a sum of the earlier letters and the present letter. The third one is in Hebrew most of the times.

Now this really is a hobby for many fans I tell you, to break and decipher these codes and languages. The terminology of English has also seen certain modifications like Christmas, for example is referred to as Xmas and aks is a replacement for ask, being pronounced like axe.

Even as you see glimpses of the French culture, the language is certainly missing, much to the chagrin of some fans and amusement for others. It is also interesting to note here that German language that is shown as the absent language of the universe of Futurama when the show is dubbed in French.

Although it will be foolish to compare these shows, yet the fact remains that both of these anime shows, meant to humor us, have been extremely successful and have enjoyed cult fan following. I feel it is a special achievement for Futurama that its name features on The Simpsons at times.

For all those who have missed out, or need a recollection let me take you around at times, where Futurama’s name comes up in The Simpsons. In the last episode of the 15th season of the show, ‘Fraudcast News’, Squeaky Voiced Teen, tries to jump from a cliff, to attempt suicide, while shouting, “Why did they cancel Futurama?”

Although Bender from Futurama has arrived many times on The Simpsons, the most prominent, was in the 16th season’s 15th episode, which was itself named after Futurama, “Future-Drama”.

And how could Fry be left behind? “HOMR”, which is the 9th episode of 12th season features Fry in the couch gag of the episode. The creator of both the shows, Matt Groening, once made an appearance on the episode “My Big Fat Geek Wedding”, (episode 17, season 15); he is referred to as Futurama’s creator. Even in the “That 90’s Show” (episode 11, season 19), Homer tells Bart and Lisa, “A struggling Matt Groening created Futurama.”

Many of you would have also noticed the Futurama t-shirt, which is clearly seen at the science fiction convention on Mayored to the Mob (episode 9, season 10).

And this is not all, for all those who have played or checked out The Simpsons Game; in order to reach into the office of Matt Groening, you need to clear a level, in which you would be confronted by two famous characters of Futurama, Zoidberg and Bender.
